MKS Marmara
expanded Formaldehyde, Formurea, and Pentaerythritol
production capacities twice, and Urea Formaldehyde
Resins production capacity once , in order to
meet the growing market demand for its products
in Turkey and in the World.
FORMALDEHYDE PLANTS
MKS Marmara is the first company in Turkey , which used metal oxide technology in formaldehyde production. In this technology which has been in operation since 1979, methanol is oxidized with air and absorbed in water to form formaldehyde . The expansion with the second unit built in 1987 and the third one in 1998, 100,000 tons/year formaldehyde and 75,000 tons/year formurea production capacities were attained.
RESIN PLANT
At the resin plant,
formalin /
formurea
is cooked in appropriate conditions
with urea to produce a variety of
urea-formaldehyde
resins . Also,
formalin
and melamine is cooked in the same
manner to prepare
melamine-formaldehyde
resins .
MKS Marmara, today, has a production capacity of 65,000 tons of urea-formaldehyde resins , and 1,500 tons of melamine-formaldehyde resins , per year.
PENTAERYTHRITOL PLANT
The first plant
was implemented in 1987, where pentaerythritol
and also its by-product sodium formate are produced
from acetaldehyde and formaldehyde
.
This unit is the first and
only one of its kind in Turkey and in the Middle
East and it was expanded twice, as first in 1997 then
in 1998, to reach the current production capacity
of 17,000 tpa .
